Simplify Your Personal Tax Reliefs in Malaysia With e-Invoice
The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (“IRBM”) has announced that taxpayers are encouraged to request an e-Invoice for every expenditure transaction that qualifies for individual tax reliefs.
This initiative is a key pillar of IRBM’s broader strategy to enhance Malaysia’s digital tax ecosystem, streamlining tax compliance through the phased implementation of e-Invoicing.

The Pre-Filling Initiative
This proactive measure services as a pilot project for the pre-filling of tax relief information into the Income Tax Return Form. Based on validated e-Invoice data, this automation will take effect starting from Year of Assessment 2026.

Potentially Pre-filled Relief
Taxpayers is encouraged to obtain e-Invoices for the following potentially pre-filled relief which include, but not limited to:

Lifestyle relief: Purchase of personal computers, smartphones, books etc.

Medical and life insurance

Childcare centre fees
-
Other categories: Various other relief categories as determined by tax regulations

E-Invoice Issuance Requirement
To ensure an e-Invoice is issued accurately, purchasers must provide the seller with their:

Tax Identification Number (TIN No.); or

Identification Number (MyKad / Passport).

Digital Record Management
The use of e-Invoicing enables taxpayers in record-keeping and management. All transaction details and tax relief records can be reviewed digitally via the MyInvois Portal.
