Foreigners who come to China for field studies, business talks, factory management, employment, technical consultations or other economic activities in connection with a foreign invested enterprise, processing or assembling for export purpose, or compensation trade shall abide by entry and exit formalities.

1. Entry formalities for nationals of countries with which China has diplomatic relations
   
   Citizens of countries that have established diplomatic relations with China may apply for approval for entry and exit through the entry-exit management agencies of the public security organs of local people ’s governments or the foreign affairs departments of local people ’s governments, while specific formalities shall be proceeded by the receiving establishment. The approved invitation shall be issued to the entrant through the receiving establishment. The entrant shall go to a Chinese embassy or consulate, or the visa office of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong and Macao for visa against the invitation.
   
   
2. Entry formalities for nationals of countries with which China has no diplomatic relations
   
   Please contact the entry and exit management agencies of public security organs of local people's governments or foreign affairs departments of local people's governments for specific entry formalities for nationals of such countries.
   
   
3. Entry formalities for Taiwan residents
   
   Taiwan residents who come to the mainland from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau can apply to the relevant agencies dispatched or entrusted by the Exit-Entry Administration of the People ’s Republic of China; those who have not arrived at the port of entry without valid exit-entry documents may apply to the Exit-Entry Administration of the People ’s Republic of China. The entrusted port entry-exit management agency applies for a three-month entry-exit valid Taiwan resident travel permit to the mainland; after entry, it can apply to the exit-entry administration agency of the public security organ at or above the county level entrusted by the Exit and Entry Administration of the People's Republic of China for more than five years one-time or one-time entry and exit valid Taiwan residents travel to the mainland.
   
   
4. Entry/exit formalities for Hong Kong and Macao residents
   
   Hong Kong and Macao residents can enter and exit with their “Home Permit”.
