Taiwan is the top immigration destiny among other countries in Asia for Hong Kong residents. The inquiry about immigration to Taiwan is soaring from Hong Kong residents followingly. According to the statics from Ministry of the Interior, the number of residents from Hong Kong and Macau come to Taiwan for household registration has been increasing these years. The number of household registration in Taiwan for the residents from Hong Kong and Macau about 11,000 people as of 2019. In the circumstance that the spouse being Taiwanese, these foreign residents are able to immigrate to Taiwan for household registration pursuant to Taiwan immigration laws.

Marriage Immigration

Residents from Hong Kong and Macau can apply for ARC (Alien Resident Certificate) if they marry or be married with Taiwan citizens (with Taiwanese ID Card and household registration) after registration of marriage in Taiwan. Besides, the applicant shall apply for the certificate of non-marriage and Police Criminal Record Certificate in Hong Kong simultaneously. The abovementioned documents are required to submit with the certificate of marriage and Taiwan entry permit for application of ARC. In the condition that such person stays in Taiwan for one year consecutively without exiting Taiwan over 30 days (exit and entry in the same day shall be counted as one day.) or stays in Taiwan for two years consecutively from the date of application and more than 270 days each year, he/she is able to apply for the settlement and Taiwan ID Card.
