Question

Taiwan Company – GUI Number

Answer
Q: What is Government Uniform Invoice Number (GUI Number)?
A: A GUI Number is a unique identification number issued by the Taiwan registration authorities to business entities. It is used to identify businesses and for tax, government, and other business-related matters.

Q: Will the GUI number change if the company name is changed?
A: No. If the company name is changed, the GUI Number will remain unchanged.

Q: Is the GUI number the same as the tax registration number?
A: No. The tax registration number is primarily used by the local National Taxation Bureau office to identify the business’s tax jurisdiction and manage its tax filing status.

Q: Can the GUI number be selected by the company?
A: No, the GUI number is assigned by the competent authority upon approval of the company’s registration.

Q: Will the GUI number be canceled if the company suspends its business operations?
A: No. Suspension of business does not mean that the company is immediately dissolved, and the GUI number generally remains valid during the suspension period.
