A registered address is the official address of a Company as recorded with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (“CCM”). Normally, the government authorities will deliver all official correspondence, statutory notices and legal documents to this address.

Every company is required to constantly maintain a registered office within Malaysia as the official point of contact for the delivery of the official documents. Besides that, it must be ensured that the registered office operate during business hours and be accessible to the public and inspections can be carried out where required.

A business address refers to the address where the company carry out its business activities, including management, administration functions and the provision of goods and services.

What is the difference between registered address and business address?

Registered address is the official address at which the Company may be reachable for matters such as legal and government notifications, whilst business address is the premises where the company facilitates daily operations and client interactions.

What are the procedures for changing the registered address and business address?

A：
|
For registered address, the Company must lodge the change with the CCM within 14 days from the date of the change, pursuant to Section 46(3) of the Companies Act 2016.
For business address, the Company must notify the CCM of the change within 14 days by submitting Practice Directive 2/2017 (Notification of Change in the Business Address or in the Nature of Business).
