Vietnam Canceled The Household Registration Book
According to Article 2, paragraph 4 of the 2020 Residence Law, the household registration book was officially cancelled on ,2023 January 1, and Vietnamese citizens need to apply for a citizen ID card with a chip in advance, and will bind the citizen ID card to the national database system and manage the citizen through electronic data。
Canceling the household registration book does not mean that there is no need to register the household registration, but there is no need to carry the household registration book to handle any administrative business. The state continues to maintain control over residence information, and citizens must register for residence and temporary accommodation normally。
The household registration book shows the citizen's residence information certificate, and is also an indispensable document for administrative business, such as: birth registration; Registration of deaths; registration of marriages; property rights; Transfer of land rights; Real estate sales, etc. According to the 2020 Residency Law, all residence information on July 1, 2021 needs to be tied to the residency database, directly connected and shared to the national citizen database. Therefore, after the cancellation of the household registration book, citizens only need the national identity card of the individual who was born, and the relevant business handling agency will inquire.

Citizen ID cards with chips can be bound to personal information citizen identification authentication. The chip has a connection to the national citizen database system, in addition to the basic information on the card such as: name; Photo; Gender; Date of birth; Nationality; Original address; Habitual address; To identify features, the chip also gathers many modern software. According to article 20, paragraph 3, of the Citizen Identity Card Act, citizens are not required to present other documents when presenting a national identity card.
