Taiwan Dependent Application Procedures and Fees for Hong Kong and Macau Residents

This quotation applies to spouses from Hong Kong and Macau, underage children (under 18 years old), and adult who unable to live independently due to physical or mental disabilities applying for an entry visa (also known as a “Taiwan Exit & Entry Permit”) and Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) in Hong Kong and Macau. It does not apply to foreign nationals, Mainland China individuals, or Hong Kong and Macau residents born in Mainland China who do not possess a Home Return Permit.

  1. Taiwan Resident Visa and Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) Application Service Fees

    Our company charges a service fee of USD250 per person for handling Taiwan Exit & Entry Permit, and the same fee applies for ARC. The service includes the following:
    (1)
    Provide professional consultation for Taiwan Exit & Entry Permit and Alien Resident Certificate (ARC);
    (2)
    Assist clients in preparing the documents required for application;
    (3)
    Review the application documents provided by clients;
    (4)
    Prepare relevant application forms and drafting documents;
    (5)
    Submit the Exit & Entry Permit application documents to the Taiwan representative office abroad;
    (6)
    Communicate with the Taiwan representative office abroad and the Immigration Agency during the application process;
    (7)
    Advance the visa application fees and collect the Exit & Entry Permit and ARC on behalf of clients.

    Remarks:
    (1)
    Our service fees do not include government fees, document translation fees, notarization fees, or document courier fees.
    (2)
    If the applicant is located outside of Hong Kong, Macau, or China, the service fees for the Exit & Entry Permit application may vary depending on the region.

  2. Eligibility Criteria for Hong Kong and Macau Residents

    (1)
    Having direct blood relatives with household registration in Taiwan.
    (2)
    Having direct blood relatives (through adoption) with household registration in Taiwan.
    (3)
    Having a spouse with household registration in Taiwan.
    (4)
    Having direct blood relatives, spouse, or direct blood relatives (through adoption) with household registration in Taiwan, allowing the applicant’s spouse and minor children to apply.
    (5)
    Being the spouse, minor children, or adult children who are unable to live independently due to physical or mental disabilities of Hong Kong and Macau residents holding a Taiwan work permit.

  3. Application Processing Time

    The processing time for individual applications for Taiwan Exit & Entry Permit and Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) ranges from 2 -3 weeks. However, the actual timeline may vary depending on the specifics of each case.

  4. Validity of Dependent Alien Resident Certificate (ARC)

    The validity of a dependent residency permit ranges from 1 – 3 years, with a maximum of 3 years, as determined by the Taiwan government based on the visa duration of the relative in Taiwan. Extensions can be applied for before expiry, with each extension period lasting up to three years.

  5. Required Documents and Information for Taiwan Resident Visa and ARC  Applications

    (1)
    Original and copy of the Hong Kong or Macau Permanent Resident ID Card and passport (the original will be returned after verification);
    (2)
    A guarantee letter personally signed by the guarantor and the original and copy of the guarantor’s Taiwan National ID Card (the original will be returned after verification); if the guarantor is not a second-degree relative or spouse, proof of employment of the guarantor must be attached;
    (3)
    Police Record Certificate from Hong Kong or Macau issued within the last 5 years (valid for three months);
    (4)
    Health examination certificate (processed according to the health examination items for residence or settlement stipulated by the Taiwan health authorities, valid for three months; children under six are exempt);
    (5)
    Original of the new-style household registration transcript or the full household registration transcript from Taiwan, issued within the last 3 months;
    (6)
    Original and photocopy of the birth certificate, with the full names of the parents (must be accompanied by a Chinese or English translation and verified by the Taiwan representative office abroad);
    (7)
    One 2-inch color headshot taken within the last two years and an electronic file of the photo;
    (8)
    Other documents as required on a case-by-case basis.

  6. Important Notes

    The list of documents and information serves as a reference. Depending on the specifics of the application case, the Immigration Agency reserves the right to request additional documents and/or information as needed.
