What is the benefits of the PEP?
|

The PEP gives you greater job flexibility than other work passes:
1.
|
You can generally hold a job in any sector. However, the PEP does not exempt you from complying with registration requirements to practise in Singapore for professions such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, architecture, law, etc;
|
2.
|
You do not need to re-apply for a new pass if you change jobs; you only need to notify Ministry of Manpower of Singapore (“MOM”);
|
3.
|
You can stay in Singapore for a continuous period of up to six (6) months without a job to search for new employment.
|

Who is eligible for PEP?
|
A:
|
You can apply for a PEP if you are:
1.
|
An overseas foreign professional and your last drawn fixed monthly salary overseas was at least SGD18,000. Your last drawn salary should have been within six (6) months before you apply;
|
2.
|
An Employment Pass (“EP”) holder earning a fixed monthly salary of at least SGD12,000.
|
You are not eligible for the PEP if you are:
1.
|
An EP holder under the sponsorship scheme;
|
2.
|
A freelancer or foreigner who intends to work on a freelance-basis;
|
3.
|
A sole proprietor, partner or where a director is also a shareholder in an registered company with Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority of Singapore (“ACRA”);
|
4.
|
A journalist, editor, sub-editor or producer.
|
The PEP holders are not allowed to start a business or conduct any form of entrepreneurial activity while on a PEP. If you intend to do so, you should apply for an EntrePass.

What are the requirements of the PEP?
|

To keep holding a PEP, you must:
1.
|
Not be unemployed in Singapore for more than 6 months at any time. Otherwise, you will need to cancel the pass;
|
2.
|
Earn a fixed salary of at least SGD144,000 per calendar year, regardless of the number of months you are in employment;
|
3.
|
Notify MOM of the following:

|
When you start or leave a job;
|
(2)
|
If you change your contact details, such as local contact person or address;
|
(3)
|
Your annual fixed salary. You need to declare it to the MOM by 31 January of every year.
|

Does the company need to pay any levy for the PEP holder?
|

|
No, the company is not required to pay any levy for the PEP holder.

How long does it take to process PEP application?
|
A:
|
For most cases, the PEP application takes eight (8) weeks to process. If MOM requires additional documents or clarification, it may take a longer time.

What is the duration of a PEP?
|
A:
|
The duration of the PEP is up to three (3) years. The PEP is issued only once and it cannot be renewed. If your PEP is expiring, you will need to get an EP or S Pass to continue working in Singapore. You do not have to cancel the existing PEP for your employer to apply for the new pass.

Can the PEP holders bring their family members to join them in Singapore?

Yes. PEP holders can bring their family members in through applying for Dependent’s Pass or Long TermVisit Pass for their family members.
